Halalz ("we", "our", "us") operates the Halalz mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account using Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We store this to create your Halalz profile.
Content You Create
- Reviews, ratings, and photos you submit for restaurants
- Reels (short videos) you record and upload
- Lists you create and restaurants you save
- Community votes on halal confidence
Location Data
With your permission, we use your device location to show nearby restaurants on the map. We do not track or store your location history.
Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app, including which screens you visit and features you use. This data cannot identify you personally.
How We Use Your Information
- Display your profile, reviews, and reels to other users
- Show nearby halal restaurants on the map
- Send push notifications (if you opt in) about activity on your content
- Improve the app experience
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted in the United States) with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access authorized data. Photos and videos are stored in encrypted cloud storage.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Google Places API — to fetch restaurant information (your location is sent as coordinates only)
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider
- Sentry — for anonymous crash reporting
Your Rights
You can view your data in the Profile tab, edit your profile at any time, and permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
Account deletion permanently removes your profile, reviews, reels, photos, lists, and all associated data.
Children's Privacy
Halalz is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
